Dear Brethren,
May and June seemed to fly by so quickly. I want to thank you for your continued prayer for our family and the Lord's ministry through us. In the beginning of May I spent two weeks in the Philippines with two main goals: to be a blessing and encouragement to a group of national pastors at the annual conference of the Fellowship of the Great Commission Bible Churches, and to shore up plans for ministry in the Philippines this coming year. While at the conference I was privileged to spend five hours of teaching time with about 25 young people, and it was an honor to challenge the general assembly in the area of missions.
From the Philippines I flew to India, and due to normal third world travel issues it took me nearly two days to reach my final destination at Emmanuel Rural Hospital in the northeastern region of Assam, India. It was a pleasure to spend a week witnessing the impact of medical missions in an area of the world where the ground is hard to the gospel. My hosts Selungba and Dr. Lamina Singh, as well as Sana and Nancy Singh, were such a blessing as they demonstrated a commitment to ministry that is exemplary. It is our hope to assist the gospel ministry of Emmanuel Rural Hospital by providing dental services at the hospital and in their outreach locations in November of 2010. Due to the sensitivity that exists between Christianity and Islam in this area of the world, our team will focus on the dental work while local pastors will do all the preaching and evangelism. Please pray for God's working to secure the permissions needed for us to assist Emmanuel Rural Hospital in its evangelistic outreach - this will be very challenging due to the Indian government's restrictions on mission organizations.
In February, the board of Grace Dental Mission after much prayer and consideration determined that the Lord was leading in the expansion of the mission. Since its inception in 1996 GDM has used dentistry as a means of reaching thousands with the gospel. In recent years the Lord has provided multiple opportunities for us to effectively incorporate other medical specialties into this ministry. We are excited to announce that Grace Dental Mission is now Grace Dental and Medical Missions (GDMMissions). After developing a new logo in May, much of June was spent working on website design and structure. Our office staff spent countless hours putting the design and text into a site that is now visible to all at www.gdmmissions.org. Please note that as of this email, our email addresses have changed.
In June we had a team ministering with two national churches in poverty stricken areas of Jamaica. Around one hundred twenty patients were treated. Many heard the gospel, discipleship and leadership classes where held for the church members. We praise the Lord for another safe trip, and for the many seeds planted and fruit harvested.
As of Saturday, the 11th of July, Emily and I along with three other members of the GDMMissions team will be headed down to Panama to work with Mark and Carol Mavar in their church plant on the outskirts of Panama City. Two dentists will be working, Dr. Jack as well as a sister Panamanian dentist. Pray for effective evangelism and children's ministries, safety in travel and in the dental practice, the team's health, and God's working in our own hearts as we serve Him.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support.
In His Grace,
Bryan & Emily Bell |
